Dr. Khalsa is the spiritual advisor and Lead Trainer to the Awareness Center. He has been practicing Kundalini yoga for over forty years. He and his wife, Suraj, were founders of the Awareness Center in 1974 and both have been teaching ever since. He is the lead teacher for the Level I and Level II Kundalini Yoga teacher training program. Dr. Khalsa also teaches the Wednesday, 7:00 P.M. Suraj Kaur Khalsa - Awareness Center Co- Founder & Co-Owner
Suraj Kaur Khalsa began practicing Kundalini Yoga in 1974 and became a teacher in 1976. Her classes are a gentle yet invigorating combination of kriyas and breath work. Using inspiring Universal readings and teaching, she creates a soothing, uplifting environment that is healing to all; beginners and long time students alike. Suraj teaches Mondays at 11am and Saturdays at 9am.
Ajeet Savitri began her spiritual journey after deciding she could no longer survive in the reality that she was living in. Feeling plagued by illness and trauma, she knew she could heal her body but wasn’t being given the technology to get her there. Answering Divine guidance, heeding the call of her ancestors and experiencing the synchronicities that were bombarding her on a daily basis, 2020 was the year she was called to take a deep dive into her soul’s essence and awaken herself to the warrior within. Ajeet Savitri is an Awareness Center graduate KRI Level One Instructor, a 500-hour Certified Hatha Yoga Teacher and Sound Healing Practitioner with Anahata Yoga & Wellness taught by Sat Ardas Kaur, a Certified Pranic & Reiki Healer and Shaman in training. She enjoys bridging the gap between the old ways & the new, connecting science & spirit to give her students the opportunity to live a life undefined and to awaken the fire within. Ajeet Savitri teaches Hatha/Kuundaliniu on Mondays at 7pm and Kundalini Yoga on Sundays at 9am.
Anand Karta Singh
My name is Anand Karta Singh and I am both a Hatha and Kundalini Yoga teacher. I am also a Certified Reiki and Sound Healing Practitioner. I have been teaching yoga for the past 2 and half years. The experience itself has humbled me in more ways than one and I enjoy it. What first started out as a visit with Dr. Khalsa has eventually guided me to become a Kundalini Yoga teacher. The experience in the Teacher Training program has been both emotional and powerful for me. It has also helped me realize how the science behind it works and heals me in so many ways. That is why I had made the decision to teach at The Awareness Center, to keep the community strong and stable. It is with love and light that I do what I do, helping to bring awareness in self and in others. I teach Kundalini Yoga Sundays at 11am.
Ananda began exploring the world of alternative and energetic medicine in 1997, studying Ayurveda, Hatha Yoga and "Jyoti-Atman" or "Soul of Light." Her continued passion for the Healing Arts led her to Bio-Resonance Therapy, Reiki Energy Work, Aromatherapy, Massage and the Shamanic Breathing Technique taught by Wahe Guru Kaur. Ananda is also Certified in Sound Healing and loves to include alchemy crystal singing bowls, drums, rattles and vocal tones in her practice. Her unique blend of physical, pranic and energetic techniques offer a truly blissful experience. Ananda teaches a Sacred Sounds and Authentic Movement Class on Fridays at 7pm. This class combines Restorative Yoga, Healing Breath, sacred sounds and Reiki light.
Atma Kaur, Gillian
Gillian (Atma Kaur) brings a warmth and light to her classes that allows one to reinvigorate, relax, and renew on many levels. In a class with Atma, enter the flow of true identity and acceptance of self by integrating mind, spirit, and body. Sharing awakenings through life's changes is built into the fabric of her classes, as is a supportive atmosphere. Atma embraced the gentle power of Kundalini Yoga as a foundation for living while taking Santokh Singh Khalsa's beginners series in 1995. She became KRI certified in 1998 and teaches a variety of ages and abilities. All are welcome. Atma facilities a monthly Sat Nam Rasayan Clinic once a month at The Awareness Center. She teaches Wednesdays at 7pm and Saturday at 10:30am.
Nirmaljeet Kaur, Sheila
Sheila (Nirmaljeet Kaur) enjoys teaching all levels of students, from first-time beginners to practitioners with years (or decades) of experience. Her classes emphasize the Kundalini Yoga basics of breathing and postures that serve to ground students in a strong foundation for their practice. Featuring a wonderful range of eclectic music such as Eastern, Chill out, World and a plethora of non-traditional music (Louis Prima, anyone?), you can learn in a comfortable, fun, and stress-free environment. Her classes work to bring passion, joy, enthusiasm, and humor into your life. Nirmaljeet teaches Thursdays at 5pm for a 30 minute meditation and at 6pm for Kundalini Yoga. She also teaches Friday at 9am for Breakfast Club Kundalini Yoga.
Padmani Japa Kaur, Winnie
Winnie (Padmani Japa Kaur) enjoys helping her students find a balance of Yin and Yang. As a full-time Energy Healer who integrates Traditional Chinese Medicine (channeling her Divine Masculine) and Integrated Shakti Reiki (channeling her Divine Feminine), she embodies strength within her gentleness and gentleness within her strength. As there are infinite truths and paths to Spiritual Awakening, her goal is to empower her students to connect to their highest potential by leveraging her diverse research and scientific approach. Winnie offers an Integrative Healing Circle including Yoga, Chanting, Meditation and soul dancing, we join together as One on Wednesdays at 7:15pm. This class is outdoors.
Prem Keval Kaur, Lynn
A Certified Kundalini Yoga Instructor Prem Keval's spiritual journey began at a very young age. Born to parents who were "seekers' the family explored various philosophies, religions and spiritual practices. In 2016, after exploring a variety of yoga practices, Prem was guided to the Awareness Center where she found Kundalini Yoga and the untapped energy and consciousness awakened through thes practice. Prem has a performing arts background, using her given name Lynn Eastman, she has worked in the Entertainment Industry as singer, actor, director, writer and producer. She is co-owner with her husband, actor/writer/producer Leo Rossi, of Eastman-Rossi Productions. Prem Keval teaches Wednesdays at 11:15am.
Ram Dhan is a student of the one. Devoted to seeing Source in all, and to ever deepening his understanding of the concept of oneness, and what it means to be in unity with all of creation. He seeks to hold the space for participants to find their truth, seeing the Divine in themselves, and in all the world. Sat Nam. Ram Dhan teaches Kundalini Yoga & Meditation Wednesdays from 9am-10:15am.
Rev Pavan Kaur, Marion
Marion (Rev Pavan's) class is designed for intermediate and advanced students on a spiritual path… and open to everyone. Each class explores the ancient technology of Kundalini Yoga along with wisdom from other relevant teachers of the Aquarian age, like Eckhart Tolle and Marshall Rosenberg. Rev Pavan includes meditation tools from her four years at the Berkeley Psychic Institute. These colorful and playful visualizations strengthen intuition and help release unwanted energies. Her classes encourages a compassionate exploration of your rich inner landscape. You are supported to embrace Conscious Self, fully authentic, awake, and free. Rev Pavan teaches Tuesdays at 9:30am.
Sat Ardas Kaur, Tina
Tina (Sat Ardas Kaur) has been teaching Yoga for over 20 years. She is an Ayurvedic Practitioner, an E-RYT 500, has an Advanced Yoga Therapy Certification and completed her Kundalini Training at The Awareness Center 16 years ago. Tina directs Anahata Yoga and Wellness’ 200 & 500 Hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training and facilitates Sound Healing Journeys throughout Southern California. She also holds a 1st Degree Black Belt in Chinese Kenpo Karate. Her studies of over 14 years in the Martial Arts combined with her love and knowledge for Yoga and Ayurveda brings a well-rounded open view in her teachings of the mind, body, and soul. A combination of classical Hatha and Vinyasa, her class incorporates rhythmic movement and breath, while incorporating an awareness of proper alignment. Modifications and challenges are given in layers so the students are able to practice according to their needs during class. Cultivate awareness and peace of mind while gaining strength and flexibility. Mixed level. Tina Teaches Hatha Yoga Flow on Mondays at 10am.
Savitri Bachan Kaur, Senta
Senta (Savitri Bachan Kaur) offers a start up Meditation Class for Beginners who have always wanted to try but haven’t. Her desire is to create a welcoming and inclusive space where people can experience for themselves the same powerful transformation she’s had since starting her practice in 2008. It all started with a leap of faith to take one class at the YMCA. That class turned into a commitment to go once a week and grew. She believes all great journeys start with small steps. That led to her graduating from both The Awareness Center’s Healer Training program and its KRI Certified Kundalini Yoga Teacher Level 1 training. Now, a newly minted Teacher, she is excited to share the technology to help others relax, release, and rejuvenate for themselves. Senta teaches Kundalini Yoga on Thursdays at 7pm.
Swava is a new teacher at The Awareness Center. She has been a high school English teacher for 17 years, but in January of this year, a magical series of synchronicities led her to sign up for the Kundalini Teacher Training program led by Dr. Khalsa. She immediately felt the teachings of Kundalini Yoga were in direct alignment with what she was already learning about trusting in her own intuition and becoming her highest self in connection with the infinite cosmic consciousness. She is grateful for the practices this yoga has taught her because through them she has gained a deeper understanding of herself, an ability to listen to her own internal wisdom, and the courage to live that wisdom. She is excited to teach Kundalini Yoga and help others connect to their own wisdom and become part of the healing energy that exists within all of us and that our world so desperately needs. Swava teaches Wednesdays at 7pm.
Yolanda (Teg Kirtan Kaur) focuses on releasing mental and physical blocks that could cause imbalances in your life. She guides you through powerful movements that will strengthen the core muscles while focusing your awareness inward. Yolanda is Certified in Kundalini Yoga and Energy Balancing. She enjoys teaching her students to connect within and assists them through kriya techniques that encourage balance in their lives. Yolanda teaches Tuesdays at 7pm.
